Are These Wordpress Plug-ins Missing From Your Online Marketing?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Ok, so quickly – Wordpress is a blogging platform that is called a Content Management System. Wordpress is only for bloggers used to be something mistakenly believed by some internet marketers. More and more often, however, internet marketers are finding that this versatile system is exactly what they need to sell their products. It’s a platform with extreme versatility, and you can customize it to whatever degree. Through widgets and plug-ins you can fully customize your site to be whatever you want it to be. If you haven’t already, you’ll soon discover there’s an incredible amount you can do with Wordpress. To prove it, here are some of the most popular plug-ins among internet marketers who use Wordpress.

Social bookmarking is important and huge right now, so you can easily do that with ShareThis. It’s simple and just installs a small link box at the bottom of each page, or end of each post. When site visitors hover over it or click on it they are provided with a customizable list of different social networking and bookmarking sites that they can submit your site to. They can submit to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Digg, or even IM such as AOL. So of course you know the purpose of bookmarking, it’s to spread the word about your site. SEO Friendly Images is incredibly helpful for internet marketers who plan on displaying a lot of images within their text. Hopefully, you’re aware of the need to do SEO on your text content, etc. Did you know you could do the same with the images you plan on using? You can quickly add your image ALT and Title tags to all your images. This handy little plugin will sense if your image tags are not in place, then it will alert you and you can tell it what to use. It’s a terrific time save if you’re into heavy image use.

You may want to consider using the Landing Sites plugin for your arsenal of traffic generated for your blogs. A lot of times when a new visitor arrives they’ll do a quick scan and hit a link or two. The Landing Sites plugin helps to spark interest in your site by showing links to related pages on your site. You want them to stay their forever, they won’t… be maybe much longer than they might have otherwise.

So whenever they read or visit a page they’ll see more of your site and hopefully will begin to like it. Naturally this is what every online marketer wants to have happen at their site. wordpress is simply one of the most incredible online marketing tools you could ever have. Years ago it really wasn’t used that much by the IM crowd, but now all of that has changed and it’s transforming the IM industry. So, really… any marketer can use Wordpress. There are marketers all over who are beginning to incorporate blogs into their businesses. This is something that people can use even if they’re never thought about using it previously. It’s easy because with all the plugins, you can make it into anything you want.

How to make blog backlinks worth their weight in gold

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

As SEO  has become more and more popular, the demand for backlinks has increased right alongside. I feel that the quality of the average backlink continues to drop due to this backlink gold rush we are seeing online. As more webmasters discover the importance of linkbuilding campaigns,  blogs are flooded with many short (lame) irrelevant comments.

In this article, I will offer a few simple examples of how to improve the quality of backlinks and why it will help your website.

When you leave a comment, try to stand out amongst the other comments on the page. Offer a relevant in dept answer and follow up on comments by other posters.  As simple as it sounds, with so many short off topic comments on many pages, visitors and webmasters notice when a quality comment is left.

Dofollow vs Nofollow

A link can be important in 2 ways.

Dofollow link: Search engines see it as a vote from another site to yours, which helps improve your ranking and can bring traffic to your site.

Nofollow link: Search engines don’t count the link in your rank, but the link is active and can result in traffic to your site.

Many webmasters are beginning to only go after dofollow backlinks due to their importance to search ranking. While these links are important, no follow blogs can offer just as much if not more traffic in some cases.

If you leave a comment on a blog with the intention of gaining a backlink, that link will be a potential visitors  first impression of your site. Make each backlink count by taking the time to post a high quality comment and the rewards will follow.

Blogging: -hosted Wordpress Also Requires You to Purchase a Domain Name for Your Blog!

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Are you already blogging or getting ready to start a blog? You may be interested in knowing that all blogging platforms are not created equal. If you intend to build an online business that will represent you well on the internet, here are some things that you will need to keep in mind.

The first thing is that a free blog will not serve you well in the long run. If you start a blog with a free service you do not own it. If you are just writing a personal diary or family blog, it may not make as much difference to you.
if you are running an online business, it means everything. A free service may remove your blog at any time if they do not like what you are doing. You do not want to take the chance of working hard for months or years, only to have it all disappear with no recourse available.

This means that you do not want to use blogger, also known as blogspot, or the free version of wordpress. These blogs are considered to be throw away sites, and you do not want to spend time on something that can be deleted by someone else.

When are ready to get serious about blogging, go to Typepad or to hosted WordPress. I often recommend Typepad for people who are just getting started online because it is very simple to set up and get going. All you need to do to get started is to purchase a domain name and sign up with Typepad. The small monthly fee you pay is your hosting fee. Typepad also has very good customer service and an online knowledge base to answer all of your questions.

Hosted WordPress also requires you to purchase a domain name for your blog. Then you will need to get an account to host your site. I recommend a hosting service with c-panel hosting, so that you will be able to take full advantage of everything the internet has to offer. there are too many details to go into here, but believe me when I say that c-panel hosting is the way to go.

Then you will need to choose a theme for your WordPress blog. There are thousands of free themes available, as well as many that you can purchase. You can search for these online very easily. I prefer a theme that is two columns, with my sidebar on the right, and also one that is widget ready. This means that you can easily add the plug-ins that WordPress is known for, like the ones for video, search engine optimization, and audio capability.

No matter if you decide to go with a hosted WordPress blog, or the simplicity of a Typepad blog, either way you will own your blog and be able to create a site that will enable you to build your online business.

How to Install a WordPress Blog

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

http://Ryans1.com How to Install a WordPress Blog Hi my name is Ryan and welcome to my video on how to create a wordpress blog. On this video, I presume you already have a domain and Web hosting. So the next step is to get a couple of more things. The first is to download the files for your blog from the wordpress website. By going to wordpress.org And hit download. It will take you to a page where you can download WordPress 2.7, which is the latest wordpress platform. Download this to your computer, and you can unzip that into a folder. That will put all of the files you need for your blog onto your computer. Now, the next thing you need to do is get this on to the Internet. So you need an FTP program to upload those files, I used filezilla. You can get for free by typing the FileZilla into Google. It’s the first result that comes up in Google, and you want to download the FileZilla client. On that page it will be the first one under Windows FileZilla-3.1.6-win-32-setup. Once you have FileZilla and all your word press files. You will want to log into your hosting account and create a database to hold your new blog. Log into your account and create a new database. It may look different depending on what Web hosting company you use. It will ask you to create a database description database user name and enter a password for the database. Once you have created a database go back to the word press files on your computer and look for wp-config-sample, now renamed that file to remove sample from the end so that file reads just w-p-config. Now double-click on it and open in notepad, and change the database name user name and password by copying and pasting from where you set up your database in your control panel to the exact same database name and password that you used to create the database. When you create your database, you will also get a local host name that you can copy and paste here too. Next log into FileZilla and locate the directory where you saved the word press files. Copy all …

Build a Blog Empire – Keep the Winners, Flip the Losers!

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Have you been told that there is lots of money to be made with blogs? Well, you are correct, there is a lot of money to be made if you do it right. Creating blogs is really easy now. Most hosting providers have an automatic install process to get your blog created in minutes. It is this simplicity that allows you to make lots of money in a short period of time. You can create your blog, promote it, monetize it, and sell it. You can also keep the best performing blogs as a basis for your recurring income streams. Let’s get to the details.

As I said before, setting up a blog is simple stuff. You can do it in minutes. Once your blog is setup, you will need to make it look nice. The default theme is really not setup to stand out, trust me. Go and search for free wordpress themes, and you will find a huge pool to choose from. Once you pick one or many themes, you upload them to your account and pick the one you want to use. OK, now that your blog looks appealing to your visitors, you need some content. Many people get stuck on content. You don’t need to think too hard about this. Simply visit the major article directories and find the most popular articles in your niche. You simply publish these great articles on your blog! Be sure to observe the rules here. Each article site has different rules.

You can use WordPress’ scheduling feature to schedule the posting of the articles. I would post the first three right away and then post one every day or so for the next two months. This will keep your content fresh and the search engines happy.

Now that the blog is setup with a nice theme and content, just go out there and promote it. You can promote via PPC, article marketing, forum marketing, classifieds, etc. Once you have some links and traffic, you must evaluate your blog’s progress. The killer ones are keepers. Go ahead and sell the rest to buy some more content and/or outsource the building of more blogs!

How do I change Wordpress.com theme without paying?

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

I have tried connecting word press.com in filezilla but it won’t connect. I think it’s because they have this new CSS upgrader and you need to pay for it. Is there any other way I could change my theme without having to pay for it?
that’s still paying.

You don’t connect to WordPress with FTP. You connect to your server that has it provided your hosting account allows use of FTP. Most free accounts do not allow FTP use.

How do I have subdomains for my wordpress site?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

for example http://dogs.animalfun.com

Do I have to install Wordpress MU? Can it be done with normal Wordpress.Org?

Doing it with wordpress MU:

Wordpress MU Download

First step is to download it at http://mu.wordpress.org/download/ .

Once done unzip and upload to your hosting.

DNS Records (turning on wildcard subdomains)

I am going to go through the steps in turning this on with a dedicated IP address. I use a secondary name server at http://www.editdns.net . It’s free and very reliable. What this allows you to do is to point your *.yourdomain.com to your dedicated IP.

Simply add the domain you chose and it will create the basic dns entries. Edit the "A" record IP addresses to go to your dedicated IP.

Then ADD a new "A" record with *.yourdomain.com pointing to your dedicated IP.

Change Permissions

Wordpress MU installation requires you to set the root and the wp-content folders to WRITABLE. Once DNS resolves, go to your domain and it will show the installation pages. It will tell you what permissions to give these folders.. (SET THEM BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE WHEN DONE)

Installation

Follow the instructions as prompted. Make sure you have your MySql database info (host, db name, username, and password).

Select subdomain based option for this example. You can choose either sub domain based or sub directory based blogs.

In the path, leave it as is if your blogs will be in the root folder. If you put the install on a sub folder then add this to your path. For example, you can install at usersblog.yourdomian.com/blogs/ which would be in the blogs subdirectory of your root.
